Synective now makes an IP for the new CAN FD bus available, for immediate delivery. The IP, that also supports standard CAN, has for some time been delivered to selected customers and is now made available to a broader audience. CAN FD is a new version of the CAN standard, but where the payload is sent at a higher bitrate (up to 10 Mbit/s). The payload can also be up to 64 bytes long, compared to 8 ytes for normla CAN.
The IP has been developed in close cooperation with Kvaser (http://www.kvaser.com/), that uses it in their products and is alreay well proven. It was one of the few IPs that “survived” the CAN FD plug-fest in Detroit earlier this year, without any remarks.
It is availble for both Xilinx and Altera FPGAs, and also several others on request.
